Here at Dudley CCG we are always keen to listen to your views and experiences. Your opinions are really important in helping us to make sure we commission (buy) the right services for our local patients and communities. There are plenty of ways to be involved:
Our popular Healthcare Forum is an open meeting which anyone can join us for. We hold them at local venues around the borough four times a year. They are chaired by one of clinical board members – usually Dr Steve Mann and they are friendly and informal. It’s a great way to find out more about what is happening with health locally and we always offer a bite to eat and a cuppa. Over the past year we have discussed the urgent care system in Dudley and Dying Matters. To find out more, contact the team on 01384 321719 or email Helen.Codd@dudleyccg.nhs.uk
Our next meeting takes place on Thursday 18th June 2015 and is follwed by our Annual General Meeting at Brierley Hill Civic Hall.

Patient Participation Groups (PPG)
PPGs are registered patients at a particular practice who choose to meet roughly every 2 months. They work with the practice to help make improvements and provide a patient perspective on how the practice works and give an opinion on the wider NHS. 42 of our 47 GP membership practices have a PPG and we are committed to supporting our practices and our PPG members in developing their voice. To find out if your practice has a PPG – just speak with the Practice Manager
Patient Opportunity Panel (POPs)
Some PPG members choose to join us at the POPs meeting which takes place every 2 months. The meeting is chaired by Julie Jasper who is the champion for patient engagement on Dudley CCG Board. We try and encourage 1 or 2 members from each PPG to join us and tell us about issues which are affecting their practice or their local areas. Julie then takes this directly to Board and they are able to listen and respond which gets reported back to the POPs group. It’s a really good opportunity to find out more about how the CCG works and to listen to local GPs telling you about local issues. We always alternate the meetings between daytime and early evening to ensure that people can join us if they wish.
Earlier this year we asked you for your views on our local diabetes services and what worked well for you and what didn’t work so well. We received over 500 responses from you and overwhelmingly most people said they were very satisfied with the current service they received and that convenience was the main reason they went to their clinic of choice. We have shared the results with our Commissioning Engagement Managers who will consider the feedback before making any decisions about the phlebotomy service.

Feet on the Street
The team are quite partial to getting out and about and talking to locals and getting a ‘real feel’ of peoples’ views on healthcare and wellbeing. We pop up with a video camera in different areas – why not follow us on twitter @dudleyccg or @helenofdudley and find out if we’ll be in your area soon!
