Dr David Hegarty MBE has been re-appointed as Chair of Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Governing Body for a three year term of office.
The formal announcement was made last week at the CCG board meeting following a recent election process.
Dr Hegarty has been Chair of the Governing Body since April 2013. He has been a GP in the Black Country for over twenty years, the majority of that time working as a Partner with Wychbury Medical Group which has practices in the towns of Stourbridge, Halesowen and Cradley Heath. Dr Hegarty is an experienced GP leader which has been recognised in a number of national awards including HSJ Commissioning Organisation of the Year in 2011 and he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017.
He said, “It is a real honour to have been re-elected to the Governing Body and to be voted in again as Chair. I welcome the opportunity to lead the CCG in our next stage of development alongside a dedicated team of clinicians and CCG staff, who have all contributed to our success in Dudley so far.
As Chair the role of Dr Hegarty is to ensure the CCG exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the CCG constitution. He will also chair a number of meetings within the CCG, including the CCG Board meeting held in public and the CCG’s Annual Public Meeting.
